I know this is way way late but I wasn't blogging in May and this is the only somewhat recent picture of Daren and I. Sad but true. We were so excited for Daren to finally finish school after 11yrs. He got his DPT, Doctorate of Physical Therapy on May 12, 2007. He then spent the next 6 weeks studying for the boards. He passed and began his first contract job with his new employer on June 25. He worked at a hospital in Lincoln for 3 months and then signed a new contract to work here in Omaha at the VA hopsital but it didn't start for a month so we enjoyed having him home with us for the month of October. It was sad not having him around every day but he is really enjoying his current assignment. He is doing mostly outpatient orthopedic therapy. A worthwhile end or beginning, depending on how you look at it, to a long journey.

A time for giving thanks!

We are so grateful to live in Omaha. It has given us so many things. We have learned so much. We have made many friends. We have accomplished some of our more difficult goals and have begun goals we may never have set. This year we were grateful to stay in Omaha for Thanksgiving. We were able to share the holiday with many other families staying in town. I was so glad I didn't have to make a whole Thanksgiving dinner just for the 3 of us. The twins were on a visit to their birth mom. I only had a few assignments, a few of which did not involve cooking. I was very relieved. We hope our friends and family were able to enjoy a wonderful day!

No news is good news!

Nothing much new going on right now but just an update on Daren. He has signed a year contract with the VA hospital here. His hours are good (8-4:30) and the commute even better (around 8 min.). They originally said he would be doing 50/50 inpatient/outpatient but since starting on Nov. 1 he has still only seen 2 inpatient patients. He is really enjoying outpatient. Good riddance to the bodily fluids, manual labor and grouchy nurses. We will see if we stay for the whole year depending on what happens with the twins. We are just waiting to see if they become available for adoption. They have court Jan. 8th. We will be sure to pass on any new developments.

Halloween 2007

Halloween!

Well, I have finally gotten the hang of this blogging thing and am just now getting around to posting Halloween pictures. The girls all had a great time. Aspen loved going door to door and tried to go in several houses. I guess we need to have a lesson on stranger danger. She said, " Trick-or-Treat" and "Happy Halloween" even if I was the only one that understood her. The twins just rode in the stroller. They seemed to just enjoy watching the excitement. At first I was going to the doors with all 3 treat bags but I started to feel dumb since I knew full well that the girls weren't going to be eating any of the candy anyway. I guess I am finally getting old because I was so excited when we had our first kid and could finally go trick-or-treating again, at least legitamately. I wanted to go and go and get as much candy as we could. This year we didn't even get half a bucket plus we started at 5:30. I don't think we have ever gone trick-or-treating when it wasn't already dark. It will probably get more exciting again when the kids are the ones that want to go and go and get as much candy as they can. Hope you all had a great time.
